Where did the day go?

Set off this morning with a few folks to the Olde English Faire at Jubilee State Park.

Joe checked out the authentic medieval port-a-potties.

Katie was seriously thinking of adding something to her enormous collection of shoes.

We saw alot of activities not pictured here including sword fighting, jousting, archery and axe throwing. Check out the my Faire Picasa album for all of the pictures.

Ninjas? ....ok.

Are you laughing at my hat, or food-stuffed face?

Katie, Storm and the other Katie had caricatures done!!

Big Joe doesn't like having his picture taken...so here it is :-)

Katie (the tall one) apparently thought it would be funny to take a picture while she was looking through my pictures of the day. Is it funny now?!?!

I made it to the last inning of Bethany West's rain make-up game. There were several substitutions this game due to the weekend timing and an injury. Considering those, it wasn't a bad loss at 4-6. Fun was had by almost everyone.

Don't hurt yourself Jed!

Josh rounding first.

Poor Kelsey. She's home this summer from school, was subbing for ONE game and hurt her ankle pretty badly early on. Josh not only provided the ice packs, but also the ride to her car :-)

Pastor Fred hosted a "Sackcloth and Ashes" going away cookout for Rodney and Katie (yet another Katie :-) this afternoon. In the Old Testament of the Bible, people mourned with the symbolic wearing of sackcloth and pouring of ashes on their head. We skipped that part, but we are still going to be very sad to see Rodney and Katie leave. They will be spending two years (and no more) in Texas with a new position Rodney took.

Yea for being one of the only two single adults in a group of about 30. Sorry, I had to say it.

Day 2 of my concerted effort at exercising consisted of tickling and wrestling Holly, Audrey, Josie and Connor.

The Deutsch man and the little Deutsch man.
(hot dog, not cigar..)

No, Pastor Fred does not make a fortune working at Bethany. Currently, his family is house-sitting for a Caterpillar family (Peoria's largest employer) who was transferred to Europe for a short time. They were ordered to make full use of the house for hosting events, and have done just that.

I've known Rodney (scratching back above) for about five years now. He was one of the first guys I met when I started attending Bethany Baptist church full time. I rented a room from him here in the "Nice Ghetto" about four years ago. A couple of years after that, purchased his house and he moved next door when he got married to Katie. I sometimes forget what an impact he had on me in the motivation and inspiration he was for me in becoming more disciplined in several areas of life, and in recognizing my need to be passionate about my faith in Jesus Christ. Keeping him as a neighbor when he moved out was a huge blessing.

We'll miss you Rodney!

Maya had some Kevin time tonight!! It turns out that she is quite jealous of me trying out other pets and left a nastigram comment on my puppy post. I think she's over it since I had to wash my face twice.

Immediately following the cookout, I headed out to see the movie "Get Smart", which ended up being totally hilarious. I remember watching the show as a kid on Nick at Nite. Might have been that period of time where I stayed up late watching shows when I was supposed to be in bed. Not sure. Anyway, they brought back all the great quotes and several of the gadgets. Good stuff.
