Congratulations to Jed and the future Mrs.
On our Sunday school class trip to the St. Louis Zoo, Jed finally proposed to Julie, and she did in fact say yes.
The story goes...
Jed got permission from Julie's father on Wednesday, just a few days before the trip. Jed had the awesome idea of making it happen on the trip, and did a great job lining everything up on short notice. My favorite part has to be the 2am trip Friday morning to scope out the zoo and park. Nice. Plans also included finding someone to get his car down there secretly for a quiet, post-engagement, ride back from St. Louis.
So, when I asked Jed about inviting a couple more people who were interested in going to the zoo, knowing it might put us over, he said "PERFECT!". We now had an excuse to take a separate ride down to the zoo, and that would be Jed's car. Hence, Cristian, Jenna and I taking a nice quiet ride to the zoo.
My job at the zoo was to take pictures of the happy couple for future use. However, they split off from the group rather early and had a great time by themselves. I did my best man!
Aside from curious Josh, there were surprisingly few questions about why Jed and Julie weren't coming to dinner with us. In the end, they were at a restaurant only a few blocks away from us. Which was good when Jed realized that Julie would need evening make-up from the locked van we took.
Jed's plans got rained on a little when his park proposal got canceled due to weather, but he still pulled off the question shortly after at a backup, and somewhat shady, location.
It was so fun being a part of your recent big day Jed. It's great to see you guys so happy!
So far, all of my past and present roommates who are now engaged or married have allowed me to view their ring ahead of time, which is so cool. I hope that someone, and I won't say who, who is not yet engaged, still not saying who, doesn't let me down by breaking this trend!
