Risky Business

Bible Study this week (Thursday), in Piper's book "Don't Waste Your Life", was about taking risk in our lives. And risk we took. Eating some of the guy's kitty litter cake (pictured). Complete with melted tootsie roll doo doo. Classy fellas.

Expanding on the study topic is what's taking me so long to post this. Just a paragraph takes a week to write if I'm distracted by other junk. In the Bible, God's people took countless risks to live out God's law and their faith in him. It's awesome when your daily devotions hit on something that you were already learning elsewhere. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Daniel 3 was one example of (extreme) risk which also popped up in my devotions later in the week. How are we going to take risk if we aren't first willing, and second, of the right attitude to know what risk to take, and to take it for the right reason? This was our topic of discussion. Thanks again Moons!

Later that night, at home, Josh risked his finger for some water. I'm sorry to say that we have broken the third of four wedding party gift glasses from Rodney and Katie's wedding. It's a good thing they still have a case of leftovers somewhere. Oh by the way, Josh is OK. I called one of our nurse friends while we were debating whether to call an ambulance or a mortuary, but she didn't answer the phone. Josh could have died Kim. Could you live with that on your conscience?? ;-)

To welcome back Jennifer from her six month maternity leave, her old team and I (honorary member) went to Ming's for lunch on Friday. I'll be honest, I had more than one plate, but not alot. I don't know how Jennifer stomachs buffet sushi. I had to travel to another country to enjoy it, and that was just tuna.

Jennifer had a tire slowly going flat for a couple of days. We made the mistake of filling it up on the way back to work. These ladies do NOT tip well by the way.
Only got 25 cents outta this gig. I said mistake because by the end of the work day, the tire went completely flat.

When you visit the Rabenhorst house, your car gets attacked by Sami. At the Laugherty house, Maya Maia jumps you before opening your door. At my house, the Madison will get you. I just stayed in my car and headed to our meeting at church. Saturday was our Sunday School class Fall Retreat. We'll talk about that later.

The planning committee still had some prep work to do, so we hung out the rest of the night at church putting things together and planning the worship times for the group. I was a little sad to have to use the night in a meeting rather than leaving it open or checking out a movie. But when I eventually realized that I prefer being at church rather than anywhere else most other days, I realized how lucky I was to have the opportunity. And who doesn't want to see Peter in a kids floaty?

They even let me do things that I couldn't mess up! :-). Computer related...duh. (never mind those music sheet typos people!!)

So that's why you called me. Sorry I was sleeping, so I could get up early to go to work. Well I'm glad Josh survived -- assuming at least. :)And, thanks, Cheryl for sticking up for me and volunteering to take call! :)
