Kitchen Blitz

My friends, the Armstrongs, have recently begun blitz-cleaning various rooms in their house, one at a time. A few months ago, they successfully adopted a family group of three adorable children from Columbia. I originally thought that it was their intention to get three, but found out later that it was not. These little ninos have certainly been a huge blessing and joy in their lives, but something that hasn't been easy to keep up with is the new business and messiness of having three kids around. After new schedules and being gone for trips, they decided to take some serious action.

Last night, Josh and I decided to take some serious action on the kitchen. He moved in almost a month ago, and then BenB moved in over a week ago. The place has been completely packed and unorganized since then.

Everything was organized, from the spice rack to the tupperware drawer. The fridge got away with a warning. A couple of things we disagreed on will get organized when he's not around (shhh).

Jed and Julie are back from their honeymoon. What does Jed have to say about it? "I highly recommend marriage". Thanks Jed. Julie's thought was slightly different, but close enough. Though Jed is not a home owner, he did need to do a little work while the landlord is stuck in Texas. A neighbor's tree fell on the house a couple months ago and slowly built up a leak in one of the rooms, which revealed it's self recently. A quick patch job was done until insurance companies get their job done. Skipping the "I see London" joke.

Tuesday was also a big move day at work. My team lead recently realized that she could acquire cubicles one row over form her and bring those of us who sit on the fringes closer to her. My previous cubical was very close to a group of people with no volume control on their voices, and no knowledge of what a conference room is for. I liked the idea of moving, but we now have new problems. #1 I'm next to the busiest hall on the floor now. And I'm not a supervisor, so I can't stick a filling cabinet in the middle of the hallway to keep people from walking by. #2 It turns out that there is a person nearby with the same volume control and cubical meeting issues as the other guys. #3 The lights are brighter.

Nothing I can do about it. That's why I have noise reducing head phones. There are benefits too. The pranks have already begun, and we are all within throwing distance of each other.

Tonight at AWANA, I got to spend time listening to the T&T girls. I normally only spend time with the 5th grade boys, but the ladies were a little short on help tonight and so the lucky 4th grade girls got me. Kendra, I didn't get Marilyn, but did harass her.

The girls have always seemed much more well behaved and disciplined when I fill in for them. It seemed to go that way tonight at first. The ladies helped each other with their memorization before coming to me, and when they were done, went right back to working on the next section. Pretty quiet.

When it was time for the boy's handbook time, the 5th graders were pretty rowdy, but my three dudes, Evan, Jairus and Tanner, kicked butt. Between the three of them, they finished 14 sections!! And we still had time to joke around and be mean to each other, like men. Pictured is Teddy Bear John teaching the kids about being encouragers during council time.

I am officially caught up on the blog. Well, technically. There are five posts being worked on for various topics, but the daily stuff is up to date. Sorry to those having trouble keeping up with the blog blitz.
